Cops rescued man who was whipped in funeral parlour
GEORGE TOWN: The heavily tattooed man who is seen repeatedly whipped in a video that has gone viral on social media was rescued by police and his punisher arrested.
Police rescued the victim from a funeral parlour, where the incident took place, on Friday night following a tip-off.
Penang CID chief Senior Asst Comm Zainol Samah said initial investigation revealed that the victim was hit because he had insulted a “Datuk” on Facebook.
“The man was picked up by the Datuk’s men and brought to a funeral parlour and beaten.
“Upon receiving a tip-off from the public, police went to rescue the man and brought him to a police station, where he made a report.
“Police then arrested the man who hit him,” ACP Zainol said yesterday.
He did not give more details.
In the video clip lasting one minute and 40 seconds, the victim, stripped of his shirt and revealing his back filled with tattoos, is hit 45 times with a rubber hose as he kneels down. He is also kicked once in the chest.
The victim is seen being whipped repeatedly.
